Ares Games will be present with previews of WunderWaffen and Viking Route at First Look, a new initiative at the ioGioco magazine's area, where visitors will have the chance to try first-hand upcoming games from around the world. The First Look area will be held by IoGioco in collaboration with the association OltreGioco. Many game designers will personally take part in the demo sessions - including Walter Obert, author of WunderWaffen, and Guido Albini and Luca Maragno, co-authors of Viking Route.
WunderWaffen (“Wonder Weapons”) is a strategic game for 2 or 4 players, portraying the last months of World War II, when the Normandy landings paved the way to the occupation of Berlin and the resulting defeat of the German army. Near collapse, scientists and technicians are designing new and terrible weapons, the “WunderWaffen,” in the hope of turning the tide of a hopeless situation. Through simple rules the game recreates the troubled collaboration between the Russian, British, and American Allies in the final phase of the war. WunderWaffen is due to be released in Q3/2025. At the First Look area, game designer Walter Obert will present Wunderwaffen on Friday at 2PM and on Saturday at 4PM.
Viking Route is a cooperative game for 1 to 4 players, original and visually stunning thanks to a clever magnet-based movement system and a majestic 3D Drakkar. In the game, a group of heroes sail a magical longship to the World's Edge and beyond. Influenced by magical Ravens, sent by Odin to steer your course, and by the winds of Fate, the heroes will face powerful and monstrous creatures out of the Norse Mythos. Viking Route is due to be released in October 2025. Four sessions of demos with the game designers are scheduled at Play: on Saturday, at 10AM (Guido Albini) and 2PM (Luca Maragno), and on Sunday, at 10AM (Luca Maragno) and 2PM (Guido Albini).
Seats at the previews are limited. For more information and booking, check the First Look website.
