In Viking Route, heroes sail their Longship through legendary worlds, guided by Odin’s ravens and the winds of Fate, and facing powerful Norse creatures. The game can be played in two different modes:

Ragnarök: a free play mode where each game is stand-alone, and unique rules combinations generate different Scenarios.

Campaign: a series of connected games in different Scenarios (using different game boards), each in a specific setting with its own rules, guiding the crew through the story of Viking Route.

Each Scenario has a unique powerful Enemy and is divided into two phases: in the first, you will have to collect the Magic Stones, and in the second, you will have to try to defeat the Enemy as described.

Usually a Scenario provides additional setup, special game board spaces, special powers of the enemy, and victory conditions.

There are four scenarios plus the final epic battle against Loki.

The gigantic sea monster Kraken.

Midgard and the Kraken

Kraken Hunt! The first scenario of Viking Route is set on Midgard, the Earth, where you will have to deal with a sea monster: first you will have to escape its tentacles to find magic stones, and only then can you hunt it down. All the while, be careful not to get sucked in by the whirlpools, they could be... disorienting! What can we say? Good luck fishing!

Hela, the goddess of death.

Niflheimr and Hela

Looking for Balder. In the second scenario of Viking Route, you will have to enter the swamps of Niflheimr, where Hela, the goddess of death, holds the "most beautiful among the gods" prisoner. You will have to find and free him, watching out for the fog banks and being careful not to fall victim to Hela's sleep, as you risk never waking up again…

Fenrir, the gigantic, furious, and unstoppable wolf.

Svartálfaheimr and Fenrir

Do you hear this howling, making your skin crawl? It's the giant wolf Fenrir, who will hunt you down in the third scenario of Viking Route. To defeat him you will have to reassemble the magical Gleinpnir chain, forged by dwarves, while sailing through the strong river currents and trying not to be torn apart by the beast. Let’s hope at least that you’re not allergic to wolf fur…

Jörmungandr, the serpent son of Loki.

Asgard and Jörmungandr

The giant snake Jörmungandr has attacked Asgard! In the fourth scenario of Viking Route, you will have to protect the city of the gods with the help of Odin, being careful not to crash into the pieces of the Bifrost, the rainbow bridge destroyed by the snake, as they could teleport you Odin knows where... It would also be best to avoid his strong tail and poisonous fangs…

Loki, the god of deceit.

Loki and Ragnarok!

The last scenario of Viking Route is the final clash against Loki! The god of deceit will be hard to defeat: he can take on the likeness of the other enemies you have already faced and the battleground can be any of the worlds you have sailed through. Will you be able to beat his illusions in one last epic fight?

Viking Route will launch on Kickstarter on December 3rd, 2024. For more info, check the Overview article, read about the Heroes, and follow the Kickstarter Project page.
