Ares Games will be at Essen Spiel 2024 (October 3-6, Essen, Germany, Hall 3 A-112) pre-releasing three new games: the deck-building civilization game Altay - Dawn of Civilization, the three-dimensional tile placement game Builders of Sylvan Dale, and the civ-building games Mega Empires: The West and Mega Empires: The East, with the first copies of all these games arriving just in time for the show. Fire and Swords, the new expansion for War of the Ring The Card Game, will be also available at the Ares Games booth.

Aeterna: new historical-themed game by Martin Wallace, set in Ancient Rome.

At the Ares Games booth, it will also be possible to play for the first time two upcoming games - Aeterna, the awaited euro game set in Ancient Rome designed by Martin Wallace, scheduled for release in December; and Viking Route, a cooperative game using an ingenious compass-and-magnets movement mechanic, coming soon to Kickstarter, and scheduled for release in 2025.

In addition to these novelties, other games will be in demo at Ares’ booth during the show: War of the Ring – The Card Game, Sword & Sorcery and Pyramidice.

Ares will also host events featuring many of its game designers:

  • Ole Steiness and Paolo Mori, authors of Altay – Dawn of Civilization (Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 14:00 to 16:00)
  • Flo de Haan and Gerart de Haan, authors of Mega Empires (Thursday and Friday, 16:00 to 18:00)
  • Christophe and Aurelie Lebrun, designers of Barbarian Kingdoms (Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 13:00 to 14:30)
  • Peter Ridgeway, author of Builders of Sylvan Dale (Friday, 15:00 to 16:00, and Saturday, 11:00 to 12:00)

Pre-orders for Ares Games' upcoming releases to pickup at the show are now open on Ares Games webshop. The list includes Altay: Dawn of Civilization, Builders of Sylvan Dale, Mega Empires, War of the Ring The Card Game – Fire and Shadows expansion and new Card Boxes and Sleeves, and War of the Ring – Colored Rings. Other items that can be pre-ordered are Pyramidice and Port Arthur. Pre-orders will be available to pick-up at Ares booth during the show hours – from Thursday, 3h to Sunday, 6th.
