The story of a group of fugitives in the Berlin of 1942, the game is played in the dark, or blindfolded, guided by audio tracks that reproduce the different environments in which the story unfolds. Players will step into the role of people persecuted by the regime for ethnic, political, gender or religious reasons. Deep and human characters, with their doubts and weaknesses, looking for a difficult redemption because they too, to survive, have done things they are not proud of.
First They Came is designed with original mechanics and transmedia materials, presenting a richly illustrated, full color artbook, and supported and complemented by audio tracks designed to take immersion and identification to a higher level. It needs no game master or preparation and can be played face-to-face or online, in one-shot sessions lasting 2-3 hours for 3 to 5 players. The music and ambient sounds are organically incorporated into the different scenes and provide atmospheres, clues and threats that will make players really feel side by side with their characters.
Chaos League is a team of larpwriters, role-players, transmedial storytellers, formed by actors, musicians, directors, pedagogues, and writers. They are authors of the live action role-playing projects Sahara Expedition, Bunker 101 and The Secrets We Keep, and have been organizing Live Action Role-Playing events in Italy since 1992, experimenting different formulas and played with hundreds of people from all over the world.
“We are happy to partner with Chaos League, an amazingly creative Italian team, to distribute a role-playing game that pushes the envelope on the genre both thematically and mechanically,” said Roberto Di Meglio, Director of R&D of Ares Games.
"It's a great emotion when a project in which you have believed and that many have loved takes flight. We are very pleased that Ares Games, a company that has made the history of our hobby, will distribute First They Came in the United States and other English speaking countries." said Andrea Giovannucci, cofounder of Chaos League.
