Ares Games announces an agreement with Ergo Ludo Editions to publish and distribute worldwide the English edition of the games created by the Italian game publisher. The first game to be released thanks to the new partnership will be Ensemble, a party game where players are challenged to “think” in syntony with each other, voting the best match between the revealed cards.
Ensemble is a cooperative game, easy and fast to play, for two to 10 players. With no communication, players must vote one of the cards displayed, choosing which one is a better match to the “challenge card” on the table. All players vote at the same time, and when the votes are revealed, if all players voted together, they advance to the next level. Otherwise, a “life” is lost. The goal is to reach level 9 before running out of lives. As players successfully complete the game, they unlock one new scenario deck (three are included in the game), and new rules and cards may be added to the game.
Ensemble will release this Spring in five languages - Italian, by Ergo Ludo Editions, German, by Schwerkraft, Japanese, by Arclight, and Spanish and Portuguese, by MasQueOca. The English edition, by Ares Games, is due to release in Q4 2021.
The next game by Ergo Ludo Editions to be published in English by Ares will be “Cangaceiros”, inspired by the outlaw gangs of Brazil’s Northeast in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. To counter the overwhelming power of the large landowners called “Coronéis”, armed gangs were born to oppose these despots and the government, fighting for survival, freedom, and revenge. Players are bandits trying to become the most famous gang of the Cangaço, surviving in the impervious hinterland, hunted by military units sent by government to capture or kill them. Cangaceiros is expected to release in Winter 2021/2022.
“Ergo Ludo Editions’ games bring a fresh perspective to our catalog,” said Roberto Di Meglio, Director of R&D of Ares Games. “They expand our portfolio of family games and euro-thematic games with beautiful games with well-crafted mechanics, and we look forward to reach many new players thanks to them.”
“We are very excited to work with Ares Games, one of the most estimated publishers in the world” said Alessandro Lanzuisi, CEO of Ergo Ludo Editions. “Thanks to Ares Games, our games will be introduced to the English language boardgame market with the best possible care”.
