In the previous article, we presented the major changes coming with the new Galaxy Defenders expansions, Operation Strikeback and Extinction Protocol. Now, let's take a closer look to each of them, starting with Operation Strikeback.
The Operation Strikeback campaign brings the Agents to the dark side of the moon, against an advanced enemy base defended by all-new aliens able to fly or worse, burrow. Flying Critters strike from above, grasping unsuspecting Agents and trying to rip them apart with their cruel talons, while the worm-like Diggers can burrow through the Lunar soil and reach the battlefield attacking from below.
The alien base is also defended by intelligent Xeno-Delta warriors, armed with heavy armor and pulsar rifles; not only are these aggressive warriors able to fly, but they can also heal their wounds and keep fighting. The Moon is really a dangerous place, and the Master Alien of this boxed set is the huge Wormoon, an enormous, even more vicious and dangerous version of the Diggers. The Wormoon can engulf and devour any Agent, condemning him to a terrible death in its cavernous bowels.
The Agents, however, are not helpless against these new threats. New weapons have been included in the box, such as the devastating Gauss Rifle (a sniper’s choice), with 4 red dice and the ability to cause a level 2 critical; or the EMP Rifle, which is able to remove all the energy shields from a target. New psionic skills (mentioned in the previous article) help the brave Defenders overcome the alien menace; and, of course, new powerful devices are an invaluable asset in battle, such as the Hologram, which creates a false target for the aliens, or Jet Boots that give the wearer the ability to fly.
Furthermore, Agents are able to use Power Suits, special armor with limited power and availability, armed with a devastating A.F.G. (3 red and 3 blue dice, critical 1, area damage) and equipped with shields and the ability to fly.
Finally, the Agency begins fielding specially trained clone warriors, Knight agents, who fight together with the Agents, helping them in their battle against the Lunar creatures. And, from the depths of space and time, the Archons appear: powerful aliens sworn to destroy the evil invaders, keen to help the Agents in the upcoming battles.
During the Kickstart campaign, a new Drone was also unlocked: the advanced robot Vigil miniature is included in the Operation Strikeback box and can be deployed and used in battle!
