From August 5th to 30th, Nelson's Norfolk was held at The Forum, in Norwich, England. Lots of free, family-friendly events ran throughout the exhibition, exploring the life and battles of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson. Among the activities, Sails of Glory presentations were run on Monday 11th and Friday 15th, by Mr. David Pollard.
People visiting the exhibition could stop by the Sails of Glory table to look at the game and be introduced to its basic mechanics, explained by Mr. Pollard. Forum visitors were impressed by the quality of the models, the accessories, and the game mechanics.
The Forum is a huge public building that became a landmark and meeting place in the historic centre of Norwich since its opening in 2001. In August 2013, a special exhibition celebrating the life of Lord Nelson, born in the county, was held for the first time. Due to the great success of this exhibition, a new edition was held this year, focusing on Nelson and his connection to the that part of the country and on his sea battles.
The exhibition presented several interesting exhibits, such as a wooden sculpture, which was previously part of H.M.S. Victory (and removed during maintenance), a display of the arrangement of ships during "The Battle of the Nile" and an interactive computer game taking place aboard a sailing ship. The exhibit also had a 'video wall' showing videos about Nelson, and a panel presented a free IOS and Android app that takes the user on a tour of Norfolk, with photos, facts and walking trails linked to Nelson.
Ares Games thanks David Pollard for the support and The Forum for the invitation to take part to the Nelson's Exhibition.
